\u201cDo you remember what I was worrying about the past few days?\u201d I phone my friend, Celia, who usually remembers everything.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy?\u201d she asks, and then runs off a list. \u201cYour manuscript, is it really done yet? Will you find an agent? Your son\u2019s going to Afghanistan. You can\u2019t fit everything into your days. What you\u2019re going to wear, \u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDid you forget what you\u2019re worrying about?\u201d she asks, laughing in disbelief. I wasn\u2019t ready to explain that I\u2019d been photo-shopping all afternoon and had forgotten dinner and my daughter as well as whatever I\u2019d been worrying about. It\u2019s been so long since I\u2019ve been able to lose myself and find myself in anything \u2013 I almost don\u2019t mind that it\u2019s bedtime and I haven\u2019t had dinner yet. But maybe there\u2019s still time to photo-shop one more picture.<\/p>\n
